Hello all and welcome to our blog. For those of you just joining us, This is the unofficial blog of the Al Arruda Memorial Houseboat retreat. Every year since 1991 a bunch of christian men from the Northern California area have gathered together on the shores of beautiful Lake Shasta for five days of fun and spiritual recharging. We use this time to get away from the stressful jobs, the wives/girlfriends, kids and just relax and have some good clean fun while hearing awesome music, eating delicious food and hearing excellent messages. There are daily worship services including Communion and baptizms right there in the lake. (Trust me been there done that loved every second)
Next year's trip will be held on June 1st thru the 5th. Cost varies from boat to boat. (Between $170 & $180) It includes lodging, and all meals while on the lake. (believe me we eat good.) All you need to pack is:
5 days change of casual clothes
Basic toiletries (Shampoo, soap toothbrush and paste erc.)
Sunscreen.
Swim trunks.
And a sleeping bag/blankets (Pillows are proivided)
This years trip was awesome. We had 5 baptisms 4 boats participating and a whole bunch of guys having fun. (We didn't even mind getting rained on on Monday.) There's fishing, Horse shoes, Kayaking, Swimming and just plain lounging about. The minimum age is around 14 but there have been acceptions to that rule in the past.< Well gotta go and unpack.
